As teachers our health should always be the most important thing, right?
How many times have heard, or yourself said: “I would phone in sick but I have an important lesson to teach tomorrow?”
How often is your sleep, mealtimes or exercise regime affected by your teaching workload?
Listen to this post here:
The Healthy Teacher Project is something I’ve been considering for some time. Our health is the most important issue in teaching – by health I mean, happiness, satisfaction, physical health and fitness.
Teaching is a difficult and selfless job – it’s easy to forget about your own needs when what you’re doing means so much.
Now, I want to do something more. I’m going to be interviewing as many teachers as possible. Teachers from any part of the world and any rung of the teaching ladder. I want to start a big conversation about the issues stopping us from staying healthy and how we can avoid them.
This is one of the most important conversations in teaching – it’s not about highlighting issues, but sharing solutions, advice and disciplines we can all use to keep us healthier.
It’s not going to be a political conversation – there are enough of those already. It’ll be a guide for people like us, who love their jobs (and everything that it throws at them), to healthily thrive at it.
I’ve already recorded a couple of interviews and they’ll be posted soon – hit the subscribe button or join my mailing list and I’ll let you know when.

In the meantime, if you’re involved in education and teaching, I’d like to talk to you – drop me an e-mail, Luke@LukeRichardson.co.uk.
What do you do to stay healthy?
What is stopping you stay healthy?

A great project! Hope many find helpful advice from your blog.
